CEO Shannon O’Rourke attends Economic Reform Roundtable

Deputy Premier Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA, Federal Minister Hon. Andrew Leigh MP and Federal Member for Hasluck, Tania Lawrence co-hosted the Western Australian Economic Reform Roundtable with industry, community and government leaders to discuss opportunities to lift productivity and support the net‑zero transition.

Powering Australia CEO Shannon O’Rourke joined senior industry representatives to share perspectives on innovation, skills development, and investment needed to maintain Australia’s position as a global leader and achieve targets set in the Future Made in Australia agenda.

Shannon proposed an Interstate Accord that could reduce Federal and State duplication, harmonise State regulation, and create national alignment on industrial and innovation policy. An Interstate Accord could accelerate the great progress that has been made, including a nationally consistent approach for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the National Rail Manufacturing Plan.

Insights from today’s meeting will contribute to the Economic Reform Roundtable, led by Treasurer Jim Chalmers in Canberra from 19 August, which will focus on resilience and skills, productivity, and budget sustainability and tax reform.
