INTEREST IN WIND ENERGY ON THE RISE
Powering Australia’s South Australian Project Officer Shona Swart recently joined the throng of over 1200 delegates at the Australia Wind Energy Conference 2024 in Melbourne, the country’s largest wind energy event of its type.
Wind has been an important part of the energy mix in Europe for over 30 years and judging by the more than 5000 attendees visiting the exhibition space, interest in manufacturing some components in Australia is clearly on the rise.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) offshore wind capacity has been doubling approximately every 2 years, with a single offshore wind turbine capable of producing enough energy to power up to 8,000 homes.
Shona was able to connect with a wide range of experts from across the sector including businesses representatives from the South Gippsland Shire Council, Beyond Zero Emissions, Blue Aspirations, indigenous business GoWind and many others.
The South Australian branch of Powering Australia have a specific focus on clean-tech manufacturing across the wind, solar and industrial decarbonisation sectors.
