Visiting Tyree Transformers’ Braemar facility in NSW

Australia’s power transformer market is growing steadily, driven by the expansion of renewable energy projects and grid modernisation.

As ageing infrastructure is replaced and coal plants retire, demand for efficient, locally made transformers will rise, highlighting the importance of expanding local manufacturing capacity.

Powering Australia‘s NSW Node Miriam and Casey recently visited Tyree Transformers‘ Braemar facility in NSW to see firsthand the facility that produces distribution and power transformers for electricity networks, supported by dedicated in-house metal fabrication workshops.

Tyree recently secured over $22 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative Construction Ready stream to expand its transformer manufacturing capacity. This program supports industrial facilities in NSW that manufacture renewable energy products at commercial scale.

Tyree is upgrading its Braemar facility to boost production of small, medium, and large extra high voltage transformers, combining advanced technology with strong local expertise, aligning closely with the program’s goals of strengthening NSW’s renewable energy supply chain and building local manufacturing capacity.
