Australian Battery Recycling & Manufacturing Summit returns on 17 September 2026

The Australian Battery Recycling and Manufacturing Summit returns on 17 September 2026, and Powering Australia is proud to be part of it.

Battery materials recovery is already a $2.1 billion industry in Australia, supporting 19,450 jobs, and how the sector grows from here depends on getting the fundamentals right. Hosted by the Association for the Battery Recycling Industry (ABRI) at RACV City Club in Melbourne, the one-day forum will connect 150 leaders from industry, government and research to focus on the practical actions needed to do exactly that.

Powering Australia is sponsoring the session on Standards development: safely and sustainably growing Australia’s battery value chain. Chaired by our CEO Shannon O’Rourke, the session builds on our work with Standards Australia to strengthen safety, traceability and circular economy outcomes across the critical minerals and battery value chain. This includes funding and collaborating on the Standards Australia guidance, Used Lithium Batteries: Guidance on Safe Packaging and Transport by Road and Rail.
