Decarbonising Australia’s heavy industry

Overview

The global push to decarbonise heavy industry gives Australia a rare opportunity to transform its industrial base, capture new export markets, and lead in clean technology manufacturing. Leveraging world-class renewable energy resources and vast critical mineral reserves, Australia can secure high-value exports in low-carbon materials, driving jobs and economic prosperity.

Over the past eight months, Powering Australia, in collaboration with Cyan Ventures and Deloitte have developed an Industrial Decarbonisation Plan.

The plan identifies cost-competitive green production and strategic market access as central to industrial transformation, underpinned by three anchor opportunities: green ammonia, green iron and green aluminium.
